Bike Patrol Unit

The Tracy Police Department’s Bike Patrol Unit (BPU) provides a highly visible, mobile, and community-focused approach to policing throughout Tracy.

The Bike Patrol Unit is comprised of a team of sworn officers who use bicycles and e-bikes to patrol areas throughout the community, support special events, and conduct targeted enforcement.

Where You'll Find Us

Bike Patrol officers provide a visible presence throughout Tracy, including:

  • Downtown and parks
  • Shopping centers and malls, including holiday enforcement details
  • Farmers markets and community events
  • Special operations and targeted enforcement details
  • Other assigned areas requiring proactive, high-visibility patrol

Bike Patrol gives officers an opportunity to connect with the community in a different way. Moving through neighborhoods, parks, shopping areas, and community events on two wheels makes officers more accessible and creates opportunities for conversations that help build positive relationships.

At the same time, bicycles and e-bikes provide officers with the mobility to conduct proactive patrols and high-visibility enforcement where a patrol vehicle may not be practical. Officers support special events, directed patrols, and targeted enforcement details while navigating areas with heavy pedestrian activity and moving efficiently through congested locations.

Whether they're answering questions, talking with a local business owner, checking in with residents, or providing a visible presence at a community event, Bike Patrol officers are another way Tracy PD stays connected, accessible, and ready to serve.
