On July 25, 2026, at approximately 9:11 p.m., the Tracy Police Department Communications Center received a report of a shooting at an apartment in the 2800 block of North Tracy Boulevard. While officers were responding, they learned the victim, a 24-year-old male, was being transported by friends to Sutter Tracy Community Hospital.

Despite life-saving efforts by medical personnel, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Initial information provided to responding officers indicated the victim had accidentally shot himself. However, officers quickly identified inconsistencies between those statements and the evidence at the scene. Due to the circumstances, detectives assigned to the General Investigation Unit (GIU) responded to assume the investigation.

Through witness interviews and evidence collected at the apartment, detectives identified Aaron Ramos (25 years old from Manteca, CA) as the individual responsible for the shooting.

On July 26, 2026, Ramos was arrested without incident at his residence in Manteca and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on a charge of Penal Code 192(b) – Involuntary Manslaughter.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Mitchell Van Dyk at Mitchell.VanDyk@TracyPD.com or (209) 831-6639.
